چکیده
Metal powder bed fusion (PBF) additive manufacturing (AM) builds metal parts layer by upon a substrate material. The strength of this interface between the and printed material is important to characterize, especially in applications where retained included finished part. Ensuring that original has adequate properties enables use PBF AM process repair existing structures create new using both conventional manufacturing. This paper studies tensile torsional shear strengths wrought PBF-built SS316L specimens compares them are composed half These were created building via onto blocks, then cutting include materials. also examined optical microscopy electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). consistently exhibited higher lower ductility than specimens. hybrid PBF/wrought performed similarly In none did any failure appear occur at or near addition, most deformation appeared be limited portion results consistent with EBSD showing smaller grain size material, which correlates increased due Hall–Petch relationship. With meeting exceeding shows great promise as method for adding additional features repairing AM.

Laser powder bed fusion of Ti-6Al-4V parts: Thermal modeling and mechanical implications
A continuum-scale modeling approach is developed and employed with three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA), for simulating the temperature response of a Ti-6Al-4V, two-layered parallelepiped with dimensions of 10×5×0.06 mm during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), a metals additive manufacturing (AM) method. The model has been validated using experimental melt pool measurements from the l...
متن کاملSome aspects on designing for metal Powder Bed Fusion
Additive Manufacturing (AM) using the Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) is a relatively new manufacturing method that is capable of creating shapes that was previously practically impossible to manufacture. Many think it will revolutionize how manufacturing will be done in the future. This thesis is about some aspects of when and how to Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) when using the PBF method i...

متن کاملResidual Stress in Metal Parts Produced by Powder-Bed Additive Manufacturing Processes
In this study, residual stresses from the electron beam additive manufacturing (EBAM) and selective laser melting (SLM) processes, due to repeated thermal cycles, were investigated. Residual stresses play a crucial role in part performance, and thus, it is critical to evaluate the process-induced residual stresses in AM parts. Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel 718 parts produced by EBAM and SLM, respective...
